Neglected Blog… Neglected Photography

Architecture, Black and White, England, Historic, London, London, Monochrome, Street Photography

I truly have neglected both my photography blog and my photography itself. I have gone out with my camera a few times this year and what I have shot has held no interest for me. I found no inspiration in the spring blossoms which is unusual, as I do love to shoot floral and nature.  I think I am tired of shooting the same old same old.

That is until I went to central London this week and walked from one part to another with my camera in tow. I am finding myself more and more drawn to street photography and shooting in the city. I usually come back with a few shots that I quite like. Add to that I am seem to be more drawn to black and white images.  There is just something about a black and white photo that speaks to me these days.

Here are the successes from my outing this week.

Street Photography–Windsor

Black and White, England, Monochrome, Photography, Street Photography, Windsor

Took along my camera with only 50mm lens attached to Windsor yesterday to practice more street photography. I had more fails then successes. I tried shooting without raising the camera to my eye  most of the time resulted in fails.

Here are the successes from the outing.

Street_Smokers The Fudge Seller

The two on the right had no idea I was taking a photo of them I have titled this one ‘the smokers’. The chap on the right posed for me and is the one and only person I interacted with. This one is titled ‘the fudge seller’, he entertained the public to entice them into the fudge shop. I have decided I must interact more with my subjects to get these kind of shots.

‘the selfies’, couldn’t resist these two shots. The family selfie is interesting. Guess those selfie sticks are getting around.

 Street_Shades_2 Street_Shades_1

‘in shades’, it was a beautiful sunny day.

Street_Cyclist_2 Street_Cyclist_1

‘the cylists’, these two were not together and was taken in different areas. I left these two in colour as I thought they worked well.

I am already looking forward to my next outing to the streets of somewhere in England, which is likely to be London, for more practice.

Street Photography–London

London, Street Photography

Enjoyed a wonderful day out in London yesterday. Thought I might try my hand at Street Photography once again. Was it a success? I am not too sure about that. I am always worried about confrontation by those I try to shoot or those that end up in my frame. So I end up trying to take the shot without being noticed which translates into I shoot too quickly and do not pay attention to settings etc. Oh well we live and learn.

I feel that this shot would have been better if the person in the van was looking toward the customer. By the time I got my camera up to my eye she had taken the order and started to prepare so lost that moment. Timing is the issue here.

Noticed the couple walking into my frame so decided to include them in my shot. Composition could be better here.

I think this is one of the better shots of the day. Exposure could have been better.

London Street Photography

This one I do like BUT I rushed the shot it probably could be improved if I had taken a moment to think.

Happened upon a wedding photo shoot, couldn’t figure out where the photographer was positioned and I didn’t want to walk into the shot. So stopped and thought hey why not take a quick shot which once again I rushed and did not THINK about exposure etc. The photographer was just on the other side of the building. The image on the right I feel was one of my successes of the day although could have been improved upon if I had taken a moment to think about it I am sure.

I will continue to work on my Street Photography as I can only improve or I at least hope so.
